Global sales of "nolo" spirits soar in popularity.
Sales of nolo spirits in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Spain, the UK and the US, which make up more than 75% of the global nolo consumption increased 32.7% in 2020. All 10 countries are expected to grow by 2024 with most of the growth coming from the USA, Germany and Spain.
Nolo spirits make up a small percentage of the total nolo sales at 0.6%, tracking some way behind the beer and cider category which comprises 92% and reported a flat performance in 2020, growing by just 0.5%. The spirit segment, boosted by new product development and consumer demand is expected is to rise by 14% between 2020 and 2024.
These increases continue the trend of the non alcoholic sector growth with Mark Meek, CEO of IWSR Drinks Market Analysis saying "What we’re seeing is a moderation trend that’s sweeping across key global markets, and that’s bringing with it increased demand for reduced alcohol or alcohol-free drinks".
